Manbir Takhar, MD

Manbir K. Takhar, MD, MPH, MRO, is the founder of internal medicine practice Medical Access, located in Germantown, Maryland. Dr. Takhar has also been the medical director of the practice since 1986. 

Dr. Takhar completed her undergraduate studies at Guru Nanak Dev University in India, where she also completed her medical degree in 1986. She began her residency program at Harlem Hospital, a division of the Columbia University Medical System in New York City, and finished her residency at Prince George’s Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland. She received her Master of Public Health from George Washington University and is board-certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Takhar’s career includes experience in internal medicine, occupational health, and urgent care. She has worked in the Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland as a physician since 1997. In addition to these qualifications, she is also a civil surgeon for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and a medical review officer overseeing drug-screening programs for employers. Dr. Takhar holds certification from the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). 

Dr. Takhar is known for her outgoing and warm bedside manner to all her patients. She can also fluently converse in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. Dr. Takhar has been recognized for excellence in her field, as she’s been named Top Doctor by Washingtonian Magazine each year since 2015.

When not in the office, Dr. Takhar enjoys gardening, shopping, spending time with her family,  and actively participating in her two childrens’ lives. She loves traveling, reading, and playing sports.
