Four of our physicians are designated Civil Surgeons, experienced in providing the required USCIS medical exams. Individuals seeking permanent residency or a Green Card are required to obtain an immigration physical as part of their application. At Medical Access our qualified physicians can perform the exam and also any other testing or vaccinations that may be required.

What is the cost of the medical exam?

The fee is $145 which includes the exam, RPR (the test for syphilis), an initial skin test for TB (tuberculosis). Based upon the results of the test, vaccination records and medical history, the physician will determine if any additional testing or vaccines will be needed. If needed, the additional fees will be discussed.

What additional testing or vaccinations may I need?

Medical Access follows the USCI’s requirements. Depending on patient’s age and medical review, a chest X-ray and one or more of the following vaccinations may be required: influenza (flu), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) Varicella (chickenpox), Meningococcal, Polio, Tetanus, Pneumococcal (PPV) and Hepatitis B.

Do I need to schedule an appointment?

Yes, appointments are required. We can usually schedule the appointment within 1 or 2 days. To schedule an appointment, call 301-528-7110. Keep in mind that you will have to return within 48 to 72 hours after your appointment to have the TB read.

Do I need to bring anything with me to the appointment?

Remember to bring your immunization records if you have them. These records are important in determining if additional vaccines may be required. Also, bring a government issued photo ID such as driver’s license or passport. If you want, you may download and complete the I-693 form (click here for website link to form) to speed-up the check-in process. No copies are permitted; the form must be printed directly from the USCI’s site. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete paperwork.

How long will it take to get the results and the I-693 completed?

If you provide all necessary information at your appointment and all testing results are acceptable, we should be able to complete the paperwork within 72 hours. If a chest X-ray is required, it will take an additional day.

How do I get the results?

You will need to return to Medical Access to pick-up your results. Please call before coming to ensure that they are ready. Bring your photo ID. Medical Access will put the Form I-693 with the test results and the vaccination history in a sealed envelope for you to present to the Department of Homeland Security and US Citizen and Immigration Services. DO NOT OPEN THE SEALED ENVELOPE. If the seal is broken, the department will not accept it.
